New Kansas Law Allows CBD Oil with THC for Certain Medical Conditions
On Monday, Governor Laura Kelly signed Senate Bill 28, also known as “Claire and Lola’s Law” into law.
The bill allows people with “debilitating medical conditions” to use CBD oil that contains up to five percent THC. The bill was pushed by Gwen and Scott Hartley, who believe this could help their daughter Lola who suffers from microcephaly. Their other daughter Claire died from the condition in 2018.
The bill also provides a defense for those possessing cannabidiol with THC to treat their specific medical conditions.
It is unclear at the moment how this will be distributed and what role pharmacies will play in the sales of the CBD oil. Currus is working on gathering more information on this along with our lobbying team and the Kansas Board of Pharmacy.
The law goes into effect on July 1, 2019.
