Governor Kelly announces Essential Worker Health Care Fund
Governor Laura Kelly announced today that various state health agencies have collaborated to create the Essential Worker Health Care Fund.
The $8 million in funds received courtesy of the CARES Act will be designated to cover health care costs for essential workers in Kansas who have contracted COVID-19. Health care workers are one of the many professions who would qualify for assistance – including pharmacy employees.
“The dedication and selflessness displayed by Kansas essential workers has been critical to our recovery efforts across the state in cities big and small and rural communities,” Gov. Kelly said in the news release. “They risk their health each and every day to help others and these funds make it possible for the state of Kansas to help cover expenses in the unfortunate cases when they contract COVID-19.”
In order to be considered for assistance, individuals must have a COVID-19 positive diagnosis and be able to verify their essential worker status.
