CDC Publishes National Diabetes Prevention Guide for Community Pharmacists
Pharmacies taking part in diabetes prevention just became easier now that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has published a new guide called “Rx for the National Diabetes Prevention Program Action Guide for Community Pharmacists.”
The guide was developed by CDC’s Division of Diabetes Translation along with pharmacists and pharmacy partners across the country, including APA and NCPA.
This guide outlines how pharmacists can identify patients who are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes and who may benefit from the National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) lifestyle change program. You can support these efforts by promoting awareness of prediabetes, the National DPP, and screening patients for prediabetes.
There are also links to print and digital promotional materials that can be used at your pharmacy or on your pharmacy’s social pages such as ads, banners, and posters.
